How to maintain a new HP Laptop Battery?
There are several factors that extend can maximize HP laptop battery life. HP laptop batteries have 200 to 500 charge cycles before they cease to hold charge. One charge cycle begins with charging your laptop battery to the maximum, then letting it discharge completely and go to sleep, and then charging it fully again. The variation in the number of charge cycles rests on the maintenance of the laptop. HP batteries require proper care to provide optimum services.
Here are some tips to extend the battery life of HP batteries:
Do not keep your battery in extremely high or low temperature areas. Exposure to sunlight and excessive dust or dirt can damage its electronic components.
Exposure to extreme cold temperatures is also not recommended, because on return to normal temperatures moisture forms inside the battery.
Try not to frequently drain the battery of charge before plugging it in.
Avoid leaving the HP battery in the laptop while charging it for a prolonged period. Keeping the battery in a constant state of charging will reduce the battery's life.
Add more RAM if you have extra RAM expansion slot, it will reduce the usage of hard drive and it is power exhaustive.
Do NOT let the HP battery discharge to 0% initially, as it makes the battery prone to damage/short battery life/not holding the charge issues.
Battery once used must be recharged within 2 days without fail with above 50% before using it else it will short battery life.
HP battery needs a cycle of discharging to 3% and then fully charging twice a week.
Optimizing the runtime of HP laptop batteries by following ways:
Turn off programs, such as Photoshop, high graphics games and burning of DVDs and CDs, when not in use. Running unwanted programs drains the battery faster.
Leave the laptop on Hibernation mode if you do not plan to work for a while to save the power.
Lower the contrast level of the screen.
